Dear Liberal Carnivalers,
Almost time for another Carnival of the Liberals. The submissions deadline is midnight tonight so it's time to get your last minute submissions in. CotL #65 will be this Wednesday, May 21st. I'm hosting at Neural Gourmet. The theme for this edition is skepticism and its' role in American politics but posts on anything of a liberal nature are welcome. Oh, and it can't go unsaid, the blogcarnival.com submissions form is your friend.
Liberally yours,

Carnival of the Liberals #63: Focus on human rights
Dear Liberal Carnivalers,
Batocchio has posted this biweek's edition of Carnival of the Liberals with a focus on human rights. The ten posts he selected, all well worth your time to read, can be found at his blog Vagabond Scholar.
Edition #64 will be on brought to us courtesy of Brave Sir Robin on May 7th with a May 5th deadline. The theme this time is "Thinking Liberally, Thinking Positively". That's right, no nattering naybobs of negativity this time around! Check the call for submissions at the link for the details.
Before I lose your attention completely, the theme for Edition #65 is skepticism and critical thinking in American politics. #65 will be hosted by me on May 21st. I'll post a formal call-for-submissions type post in a few days but of particular interest to me are instances where skepticism and critical thinking have given way to irrationality and how those instances have shaped politics. Conspiracy theories, anti-intellectualism, global warming (and other forms of) denialism, and reactionary populism all fall under this general rubrick and there are plenty of examples both historical and current.
Special pleading for the next edition of Carnival of the Liberals
Dear Carnival of the Liberals hosts,
I try to keep the spam to an absolute minimum but the host for CotL #62 is having a hard time getting submissions so if you can post an extra reminder or even send in a post yourself it'd be helpful.
I'm postponing the carnival until Friday, April 11th and extending the submissions deadline through Wednesday to give everyone a chance to get their posts in. I'm hoping that bloggers are just intimidated by this edition's theme of "new media". You can get all the facts at A Revolution Of One, the host this time out, but in a nutshell all posts should either include "new media" or be about "new media". Since we're awash in user-created video and audio, and many important topics are raised by the rise of citizen media creaters, there's a pretty wide lattitude I think as to what can be discussed or done with this theme.
Thanks for reading, and as always, the blogcarnival.com form is the best way to send in your posts.
Liberally yours,

It's carnival time again! CotL #59 under Manila Ryce's bigtop
Dear Liberal Carnivalers,
Manila Ryce posted Carnival of the Liberals #59 early this morning over at The Largest Minority and boy did we have a bunch of contentious submissions this time around. Fitting as it should be for the liberal opposition to the conservative status quo. Won't it be grand when we can get somebody, anybody back into the White House and steer the conversation back to talking about ideas and progress rather than just how much everybody in power sucks? Even if that somebody isn't our personal somebody? Anyhow, go give this fine batch of liberal blogging a read.
Next up is Tangled Up In Blue Guy on March 12th, but before I let you get back to your dinners let me give a couple of shoutouts. First, big thanks to Hans at Free World Radio Network for helping support Carnival of the Liberals. Secondly, props to everyone at Freethought Fort Wayne, the finest bunch of atheists and agnostics you're likely to meet in Fort Wayne, Indiana aka The City Of Churches. Freethought Fort Wayne is organized under Center For Inquiry Indiana.
Hosts needed (still) for Year 3
Hi everyone,
The next edition of Carnival of the Liberals is this Wednesday at Liberal England, a great blog to keep abreast of the liberal perspective in the UK. All is on track and submissions continue to come in without my bothering all the good folks on the regular newsletter mailing list.
We do have a problem though. In short, that problem is... No hosts! In particular I need a host for the February 27th edition and for every edition from March 26th onwards. We've had a lot of wonderful hosts in the past and if you're reading this then you're one of them. Lately however people just aren't exactly chomping at the bit to host CotL. While all those smart, funny and insightful submissions are the heart and soul of this blogcarnival, without hosts there is no Carvnival of the Liberals.
So if you can spare a few hours of your time to read submissions and craft a carnival post for your blog I really want to hear from you. Use the contact form on the CotL website or just reply to my e-mail with two dates you'd like to host CotL. Naturally the priority is on Feb. 27, late March and April but any date is welcome.
The 57th Carnival of the Liberals is out
Dear Liberal Carnivalers,
Karl over at World Wide Webers posted the latest installment of Carnival of the Liberals earlier today. There's something for everyone from iPods to porn (sort of), so don't forget to catch up on this biweek's best liberal blogging.
Next up is Liberal England in two weeks on February 13th. Just like the last time, this will be an Anglo-American edition of Carnival of the Liberals with posts from both sides of the Atlantic. Keep on sending that great liberal blogging!
Also, Carnival of the Liberals needs you! In particular we need a February 27th host but the schedule is wide open from March through the end of the year. So head on over to the CotL site and volunteer today.
Liberally yours,

Carnival of the Liberals #56: On time!!
Dear Liberal Carnivalers,
Fran at Blue Gal posted the latest edition of Carnival of the Liberals earlier today. Carnival of the Liberals has resumed its normal bi-weekly schedule with the next edition on January 30th at the World Wide Webers. Keep on sending that great liberal blogging!

Carnival of the Liberals #53 and reminder for #54
Dear Liberal Carnivalers,
The much delayed Carnival of the Liberals #53 has finally been posted at Neural Gourmet. Thanks to everyone who submitted their "best" posts of 2007. The ten I chose are only my personal opinion of the "best of the best" and so I'll be posting the rest of the submissions on the CotL site shortly (sans the two Libertarian submissions).
Also, a brief reminder that Carnival of the Liberals #54 is on-schedule for this coming Wednesday, December 19th. CotL #54 is being hosted at Framed and the deadline for submissions is by 11:59PM tomorrow night, December 17th. We've gotten a good number of submissions already but I wanted to mention it anyway for those who've been busy preparing for the holidays, also known as the "War on Christmas" around these parts.

Hosts needed for Year 3
Dear CotL hosts,
Over the weekend I upgraded the Carnival of the Liberals site to the latest release version of Drupal as well as tried to get things all set up for Year 3 of Carnival of the Liberals. As part of the upgrade I finally got around to creating a newsletter specifically to handle all things CotL hosting. Now all we need is some hosts!
I've got the first edition this Wednesday, December 5th but from there on out the field is wide open. So if you'd like to host this year just use the form on the CotL site (link below) or reply in e-mail. Either way, let's try to fill up the December and January slots first. Don't forget to include two dates in case your preferred date is taken.
Lastly, I'd also like to see a lot more new submitters this year (who will hopefully also become hosts). If you can, try to encourage some of your bloggy friends who haven't participated in CotL to start sending in entries.
Liberally yours,
